4.00 Custom firmware for psp and Higher!!

Esteemed homebrew developer Dark_AleX has released PSP custom firmware 4.01 M33. In addition to minor bug fixes, this edition of the M33 firmware series of course brings 4.01 kernel support, complete with multi-language support for Recovery Mode. Instructions can be found in the included readme on how to translate the recovery text to your native language. And no, this release does not include in-XMB recovery or savestate support. As Alek noted last week, those enhancements are still planned but will likely be added in a forthcoming update.

As usual, the firmware update can be applied directly via Network Update if you are running a previous release from 3.80 M33 and onward, or by following the manual installation instructions below, provided that you have a homebrew capable PSP.

* Extract the archive. * Copy included UPDATE folder to X:/PSP/GAME
* Place the official firmware 4.01 update EBOOT, named as 401.PBP, in the newly created UPDATE folder
* Begin installation from the Game menu.

- Fixes recovery problems that have apperared in prior version (incorrect position of back string in language others than english, enable, and disabled strings not translated in plugins, hide pic0+pic1 couldn't be changed, language file in flash1 wasn't working..

- Spanish recovery translation typos fixed.

To install, make sure you have 4.01 M33 installed before proceeding. Download the archive, and copy the "UPDATE" folder to

To install, download the 150.PBP and put it in the root of the memory stick (ms0:/), download the release archive and copy the "150k_installer" folder to "ms0:/PSP/GAME4XX", and run the program through the PSP!

Custom firmware 5.99 M33-6

It hasn't been 24 hours yet since the latest PSP official firmware 5.03 rolled out from Sony, and already Dark AleX has released the latest custom firmware update. It's actually a double whammy, with him creating M33-5 and updating that to the latest M33-6 just a few moments later!

This update is a try to fix memory stick low speed since 3.80.


Instructions: Copy UPDATE folder /PSP/GAME/ and run.


If you come from a version prior to 5.00 M33, put sony update as 500.PBP in same folder, or let the program download it for you using a wifi connection.


Changes in 5.00 M33-5:

A setting has been added to recovery, that, when enabled it may increase memory stick reading speed. (only on the psp, not in the pc). By default it is disabled. If you installed 3.71 fatmsmod, do not use this setting, as its perfomance with 3.71 driver has not been tested. Instead, reinstall 5.00 m33-4 using dc8 and update to 5.00 m33-5


Changes in 5.00 M33-6:

Fixed a bug that made unbootable psp without memory stick or with a bad one.


The included file fat_comparison.html contains a comparison of perfomance between the 5.00 fat driver, the 3.71 one, and the 5.00 one with the speed up hack during the read of an iso. The test was done on the game Valkyrie Profile in cso format in march33 mode. Other games, modes and applications different than iso reading showed similar results.

The core gameplay from the previous Overlord game remains intact in the sequel, with player controlling the Overlord character in a third-person perspective who has command over hordes of small goblin-like creatures known as minions to travel the landscape and defeat various civilizations with the Roman-style "Glorious Empire" being the prime foe. Each minion still has their own strengths and weaknesses; brown minions being melee fighters, reds throw fiery projectiles and are immune to fire, greens attack from behind and are immune to poison and blues can heal other minions and can swim, along with a new ability to pass through enemies in disguises in certain instances. Initially only the brown minions are available but eventually the Overlord will regain command of the others that are essential in overcoming obstacles that obstruct further progression of the story.

The game closely mimics a third-person shooter, in that the camera sits "over-the-shoulder" of the player's Ghostbuster character. Left 4 Dead puts four human playable or AI controlled survivors of an apocalyptic pandemic against hordes of aggressive "Infected" zombies in a cinematic backdrop in which the players "star" as each character in a fictional movie. The Survivors' goal is to help each other make it through various scenarios to safety. The Infected are controlled by an AI that dynamically balances difficulty and mood depending on the players' progress and situation. In an alternate game mode, human players can control up to four different monsters with special abilities and cooperate to stop the Survivor players.

With the help of 3DA you can change different graphic options under DirectX 8 and OpenGL. 3DA changes different CAP-bits for example, if a game requires how T&L 3DA emulates these bits and the games runs on graphic boards which don't have how T&L capabilities. 3DA doesn't emulate any features in software(except cube mapping, which is done ith a simple 2D texture), like Pixel or Vertex Shader.
3DA is also a very nice tool for benchmarking. It generates detailed log files (CSV) with FPS and other parameters.

Installation Tutorial:
To install the application just run the the "otsturnablesfreesetup.exe" from the first Link. Its not a must to use the Pro Crack but with the free version of the application there are many limitations to what you can do.
To use the crack, make sure you have already installed the normal free version then extract the files in the .zip to a folder on your desktop and run the OTSTT.EXE in the folder you extracted to.
After that it will bring up the otsturnables but up at the top it will say "PRO" after the title. you can make a shortcut of the OTSTT.EXE and put in on your desktop but you MUST have both of the files in the same folder at all times for it to work.
Now you can move your folder somewhere else and enjoy your new application.
I do not take credit for making this application and do not know who to give credit to, but will take credit for giving the upload and the crack in one topic
